A Dishcloth A Day

Maggie's Crochet is doing a dishcloth a day challenge. Yes, one dishcloth for every day in 2011! Not sure I will end up making 365 dishcloths but I will make enough. lol I decided to make a scrubbie to go with each one. That is until I run out of nylon to make scrubbies! So the first picture is the first 7 cloths. Some may look alike but each one is just a little different. 2nd picture is with the scrubbie attached. Then the next 11 dishcloth and the final two pics are with scrubbies attached. Anyone need a dishcloth and scrubbie? I am about a week behind so need to try and catch up but I keep stopping to work on something else. I hope everyone is having a nice day and the weather in your area is not too bad. They said snow today but so far it hasn't happened and doesn't really look like it will. Well better go and try to get in another dishcloth. Be back soon...

Another Poncho

I made this poncho to send to Emmy. I love the shades of green. I didn't remember how much I dislike doing fringe, it takes forever!! But in the end it sure looks nice. I can't wait to see a picture of her wearing it. I hope you like it Emmy! Be back soon...

Scarves for Special Olympics

In 2009 they started the Scarves for Special Olympics. It took place in Idaho and they asked for 5,000 scarves. They ended up with 55,000 scarves! Everyone had a scarf! I didn't have the opportunity to join in and again last year I was too late to join in. But this year I did find out in time to join. Here are the 10 scarves I made to send for the state of Nevada. Every year they pick two colors so all the scarves are made with the same 2 colors but the person can use whatever pattern they want. The size is approcimately 6 inches by 54-60 inches. You can't see it but all mine have tassels. Now Keni wants one for herself too. She loved the tassles. I knitted one and crocheted 9. I can make 3 or 4 crocheted scarves in the time it takes me to knit one. I made all of these in 6 evenings. They will pick the new colors for next year around April so I will get an early start on them. Anyone who knits, crochets or loom knits can send a scarf. Some states don't get enough to give each participant one. Other states get enough to give to each participate and each volunteer. I would love to see their faces when they get a scarf. I can just imagine the smiles. Now on to the poncho I was making...

Grocery Tote

This tote is made with shopping bags. It took approximately 175 bags to make this one. It will hold 16 cans of veggies. The cans that are just under 15 ounces. Made this one for Joanne and Tom for Christmas. Forgot to tell her the red and blue strip was made with bags Keni saved from the book store just to use in her "Aunt Joannes" tote!! Now my girl wants one to use for a book bag so I need to get busy and get it made for her since school is almost half over! lol Be back soon...

Pocket Notes

The perfect little notepad and pen holder. Before you throw away those old jeans cut the pockets out, add magnets and stick to your fridg. I also made a pocket pot holder but forgot to take a picture, they didn't turn out as well as I'd like but may have to try one more time. If I do I will take a picture...

Shawl

When Keni and I went to the hospital just before Christmas one of the ladies asked us to not wait so long to come back. So I told her I would be there for sure for Valentine's Day and I would bring her a chocolate. She told me her birthday was the day after and she would for sure eat the chocolate. So I made this little shawl to take to her. Keni can't wait to see her in it. I hope she likes it...

Rag Rugs

The first rug is my first attempt. As you can see I needed to connect my strips differently. I ended up calling it my butterfly rug from all the ends sticking out. The 2nd one turned out much better. These two are made with sheets cut into 1 1/2 to 2 inch strips and a Q hook. Takes about 5 hours to cut up the strips and another 4 or 5 hours to make the rug. I need to get busy and get a few more made. By the way if you make any rugs, yarn or rag, you need to be very careful of them slipping on the floor. So to solve that problem lay a strip of shelf liner under them to prevent the slipping. until next time...

Rug

This rug was made with Red Heart yarn. My sister sent me a box of year that she got at a yard sale. The postage cost her way more than she paid for the 2 boxes of yarn! There was 12 skeins of the gold color in this rug. I never have been able to use that gold yarn in any of my projects. It just didn't go with anything I have done. But it worked great in the rug. I actually made 2 of these and sent one to each of my sisters. And I still have more of the gold yarn left!!! These rugs are made with 2 strands of yarn and a size L hook. They do work up fast and I love making them. until next time...

Christmas Rug

I saw the kit for this rug in Herrschners catalog and just had to make it. I think it looks much better in person than in the picture. The yarn has the metallic thread through it, I wasn't really happy with that but in the end the rug turned out nice.

Fun Fur Scarf

Keni asked me for a red, black and white fun fur scarf to wear with her red hoodie with a black and white design on it. So I just happened to have 2 skeins of each color, here is the finished product. With the little bit left over I made one to match for her little weeny dog. She just had to have it for Monday morning and then she didn't even wear it! lol love and hugs...

I have made 10 hat and scarf sets in the last month. Have 2 more to go and should have all the nieces, nephews, my sister and even brother-in-law covered until they get tired of them and want a different color! lol Until next time...
